Top 10 Creative Ideas for “Safety & Total Health Day” |
I’ve been going through my old email and trying to put it in some useful form. Here’s one bit I ran across from when I worked for United Space Alliance at Johnson Space Center. Each year the center would have a “Safety & Total Health Day” — no, not devoted to how to prevent ice strikes on shuttle wings, but on how not to tip over file cabinets on ourselves or get our ties in the paper shredder. OK, there was useful health info given out and I got to see maps of just how flooded my apartment would be in even the most gentle hurricane (washed away, more like it). At one point they had a survey on how to improve the event, here’s the list I came up with (can’t remember if I submitted it or not)…
- Bundgee jumping in Space Environment Simulation Lab
- Sharp scissors relay race
- Running of the Co-op Longhorn bulls
- Staplegun duels
- Live action “Frogger” game in crosswalks
- Scalding coffee water balloon fight
- Office chair demolition derby
- Obsolete computer (and back) throw
- Pie eating contest onboard KC-135 weightless trainer aircraft
- “Beating head against wall” endurance contest
