Grrrrrr… |
mood: disconnected
Since last night I haven’t been able to get to either my website or mail server via my home connection on Cox. I figured it was my hosting company, your-site.com having problems yet again, so waited til this morning to start making irate calls. No answer on their tech support line, probably won’t hear from them until after the holidays. It then occurred to me to try using the pre-paid dial-up I have from Sprint — no problem, everything loads just fine (just painfully slowly). So it seems to be some routing problem, so I call Cox. After being persistent with their level 1 guy (who also couldn’t see my site), I managed to get a very nice level 2 guy. He interestingly could see my site. I then did a traceroute and apparently the ball’s being dropped a couple hops off Cox’s network, so they couldn’t do anything for me, alas. The traceroute was seeming to stop with someplace called gnaps.net, but I’m at about the limit of my networking knowledge, so guess I’ll just have to hope I hear back from your-site sometime (hopefully before the new year…). Either that, or maybe I’ll move skuldtek elsewhere. Anyways, if I’m slow to get back to email or update stuff here, that’s why (since I’ve either gotta dial-in or check mail via yahoo).
