Thick envelope day! 8-) |
Headed home to check the mail after work before going to aikido. IT was finally there! YATTA!!!!
“It is our great pleasure to inform you that you have successfully passed the 2nd stage of the screening process for the 2004-2005 JET Programme year and are now on the final short-list for ALT candidates.”
That means I’m in barring them finding TB on my medical exam or Godzilla attacking Japan.

I’ll have to write more later when I have time and calm down (my hands have been shaking so much I haven’t felt it wise to drive to class yet). Also have to figure out how and when to inform the folks at work (also means its pointless for me to fill out the security clearance paperwork — double yay). And how to sort out all the details of my life here between now and the end of July…

Congratulations!
You should let the paperwork be done anyway who know when clearance might be handy.

I hope it works out for you. But I would still go thru and get the security clearence and it really looks good on a resume.

Thanks! Well part of the problem is I probably won’t even be in the country long enough for the clearance to be investigated (my understanding is it typically takes like six months, I’m leaving in 3). Plus these days I’d rather not get put in even more government databases (complete with fingerprints, etc). Mostly just don’t want the hassle. And after working in my current job for a bit, I really don’t think work that requires a clearance suits my personality as well.
