Well, finally decided to tell the folks at work about me leaving for JET today. After looking at the calendar, all the junk I’ve got to do here around the house, all the stuff I want to do before I go and what is going on at work, I decided that May 14th would be an appropriate final day. That week there will be a software Critical Design Review for the project I’m on, so I’ll be there to help get things wrapped up for that. I’ll have a little over two months to deal with everything before leaving, which will be nice.
Anyways, boss and everyone else took it surprisingly well (guess it was pretty clear how excited I am about this, so was hard for them to be down on it even if it is likely to cause some reshuffling of plans). Also helped that this is a good time in the project sequence for me to take off, without leaving stuff unfinished. So looks like I’m managing to leave without any seriously hard feelings on their part, which is nice.
