“Miyoshi Kaidashi Kikou” & “Konya Wa Hurricane” |
Guess I might was well do a brief mention of Sunday’s shopping trip to Miyoshi to finish catching up. I’d meant to see the other “mall” in the city, Sungreen. Wasn’t too impressed, CC Plaza (such as it was) was better. At least found a video source switcher at the DeoDeo next door so I don’t have to keep unplugging stuff from the TV to switch between the satellite dish & PS2/DVD player.
After that I wandered around a bit. found the Best Denki electronics store just a bit further down the street from Sungreen. Nothing that tempted me greatly (well, I would like a sound system, but not right now), but the prices a a little better than DeoDeo. Still need to check out their big one in Hiroshima. Ran across several fishing gear stores, not too surprising since the city sits at a junction of a couple rivers. Eventually ended up at that junction and discovered where the comerant fishing is done. Have to come back and watch it sometime if there’s time before the season is over.
Finally managed to make it to my ultimate destination, Miyoshi’s largest (so far as I’ve found) 100 Yen store. These are like dollar stores in the US, but usually with even greater variety. I was wanting some stuff for the house and some supplies for class. Got stuff like hiragana character magnets, a huge squeak mallet like the one in Kodomo no Omocha (but it was 300 yen), a toy microphone to use as a prop in class, video cables, a couple maps, pillows for chairs, a couple flower pots and a bunch more. These places are dangerous and I still didn’t get everything I was looking for. Had two big bags to carry back home.
Of course the big news today has been the coming of Typhoon 16. Looks pretty bad on the southern island of Kyushu and they’ve shutdown the bullet train in Hiroshima. But here so far all I’ve seen is a steady rain. Guess just have to see…
