    Just had to mention I finally saw a real tanuki this morning when I was walking to school! I know some of the other local JETs see them a lot, but I guess I live too much in the middle of town to run across them. This guy was standing in the middle of the road, but as I approached he ran back into the vacant lot beside the road. Tried to get a pic, but he’d gotten too far away for my phone’s camera to get a good pic. Have to keep an eye out for him in the future.

    Unfortunate sighting on the way home was a dead vole or something like that in the road. Tiny, with black velvety fur. Poor thing…
