Long time, no post… |
Yeah, its been awhile since I’ve posted anything to the blog. I’m still doing fine, I’m just mostly well settled into my routines and habits now. Seems a pretty common occurance among 2nd year JETs, most of them taper off on their blogging.
Winter is here, its been colder (often near freezing at night) and we’ve had snowfall several days. It hasn’t been too bad here (about 10 cm or 4 inches), but one of the other towns in my city got 3x that! But I’m coping with it.
Between expensive airfares and bad exchange rates, I’m not coming back to the US for Christmas this year. I’ll spend the holidays here in Japan, perhaps doing some more traveling using the Seishun 18 Kippu train ticket special I used back in the summer to go to Tokyo. This time I’m more likely to head south to either Shikoku or Kyushu where its warmer…
But to make it a little more Christmasy, I’ve picked up an 1.5 meter artificial tree (for about $60) and a bunch of ornaments from the 100 yen store (the equivalent of the $1 store). Here’s some pics:
The traditional Japanese snowman is different from the American one — its body is made of two balls instead of three. Here’s a pic of one of the Japanese style snowman ornaments:

I’ve got lots of snowmen on the tree, but no penguins so far. Need to fix that…
