Went out to the parent’s place out past Vail to water plants for them and got caught up for 45 minutes in a parking lot on I-10. Seems there was an accident just before the Marsh Station Road exit where things narrow down. Guess I should have know something bad was up ahead when I saw a chopper flying down the Interstate towards Tucson at low altitude…

I’ve lived in my current neighborhood for about five years now. Its a generally quiet area near PCC West Campus that has up until recently been a bit of an island without much around it. This has been changing the last couple years as the development from Star Pass starts making its way around the hill. This has included two large “luxury” apartment complexes marketed exclusively to UA students (mostly from out of state judging from the license plates). Unfortunately they haven’t been particularly good neighbors to have, between loud late-night parties, extra litter, extra traffic & graffiti on their walls. Fortunately I’m about a quarter mile from the nearer one, so it doesn’t affect me much — but I definitely feel for the folks closer by. Used to be that the police helicopter paid a visit to the neighborhood a few times a year — now its more like a few times a month. Sigh. However, with the start of school this year, looks like the police decided to crack down on a monster party of 300-400 people at that complex. While I’m fine with some sensible partying that doesn’t keep neighbors awake all night, this musta been truly insane! I definitely noticed the police helicopters that evening & seem to recall hearing the music all the way over here as well. Hopefully this’ll put a damper on things, just have to see…
