5 Storey Pagoda in Yamaguchi
I used my remaining Seishun 18 Kippu to take a daytrip to Yamaguchi. Saw this pagoda, some parks, St. Francis Xavier’s church and an old steam train in use. Also went to Yuda Onsen.

Bought dinner & a t-shirt at Hard Rock Cafe. I traveled about 8 hours to Tokyo & decided that Kawasaki was a convient place to stay. Then I took a short trip to Yokohama. The Landmark Bld. is the tallest in Japan.

I’m heading homeward after staying in Sapporo, Aomori & Sendai. This morning visited Matsushima Bay, one of Japan’s “3 Most Scenic Areas”. 260 picturesque, small islands dot the bay.

Onuma Quasi National Park is a lake with a series of tiny islands connected by foot bridges. Very beautiful & peaceful in the very early morning before the tourists arrive…

Taking the train from the main island of Honshu to Hokkaido you go 240 meters under ground & sea thru the 54 km Seikan Tunnel. About an hour of nothing but tunnel out the window, but still kinda cool.
