Pics broken

Grrrrr. Something I did apparently broke my blog’s ability to display images in entries. Trying to figure that out. Mostly posting this to make sure nothing else is broken…

LiveJournal Feed

One of my friends some time back set up a syndicated feed for my site on LiveJournal. Unfortunately something about the setup didn’t work so well, and it worked even less I bet after I made my recent changes. Well, I’ve contacted the nice people over at Live Journal and they’ve pointed it to the new XML feed. So if you use LiveJournal, you can add tucson_kaidash to your friends list to get TKK updates. Yeah, I’ve also got a LiveJournal account, but not sure if I feel like keeping two journal sites up-to-date (barely do one…).

Online with new software

Thus far I’ve been using blosxom as my blogging software and its served pretty well. But I’ve been wanting a few features it didn’t offer and I’ve now got database access that allows me a greater choice of software. I’ve chosen to give Nucleus a try. I’ve ported over all the old entries an comments over by hand (or at least I think I have). The timestamps on the old comments are wrong, haven’t figured out how to change them and the old comments didn’t have dates either. Still need to get the moblog stuff running, but playing with PHP code seems easier for me than Perl (since its similar to C). But let me know if you find anything broken. I think I’m still seeing a few things that are a little funny, but overall it works.

Sorta working, sorta broken…

mood: on the blink

Hmm, seems like one of those days where I break more than I fix… Working thru issues with having put cgi-bin stuff in other directories on my previous setup (new host only allows CGI in that directory, but that directory also isn’t allowed to be writable, thus breaking the Moblog for example). A couple other side effects from that. Also need to fix Gallery links & pics (but you can get there from here, even if it does look it). Plus the title image is stubborn about loading for some inexplicable reason. Oh, and gotta fix the fortune at the bottom of the pages. And…

Preparing for a virtual move

Well, after a couple nights of comparing webhosts, reading terms and other junk, looks like I’ve chosen to move over to Inmotion Hosting. They seem to get good reviews, don’t set off any red flags in Google & Usenet searches (like your-site.com does), they have a $9.95 plan with 1.2 GIG of storage (gonna have to start scanning some of those old pics!) and stuff. Have to see how it works out. May mean that the website and email could glitch somewhere in the transition, but hopefully will be reasonably smooth. They also have mySQL database access included, so I may tinker with switching over to other blogging software that does some of the other stuff I want to do (like integrated moblog support and metaWeblog posting).
